ISOC Qatar believes that providing free and accessible Internet is essential to ensure the development of a vibrant digital economy. We are committed to promoting the use of e-government services by providing equitable access to online information and services, offering users the ability to access government websites and services with ease.
To this end, ISOCQ is actively involved in initiatives such as reinforcing the concept of ‘Open Government’, where governments provide citizens with a greater level of transparency, accountability and participation in decision making processes. We also promote activities that seek to bridge the gap between citizens and their governments, such as community networks and public access points.
We are committed to creating an environment for knowledge sharing by supporting local ICT businesses, institutions and organisations in order to strengthen their capacities and enhance digital literacy levels. Additionally, we promote open education resources across Qatar which allow access to digital content free from cost or copyright restrictions.
Our efforts to bring about a global shift towards free Internet access means that users have an equal chance of enjoying all digital opportunities available on the web without having to worry about any financial burden. With our efforts, we hope to empower everyone with the knowledge they need to make informed decisions when it comes to using online services.
